2006:‘Some(one)’
Alternative Art Space LOOP, Seoul, South Korea.

CONCEPT: On being the same… oneness
If one aspect of identity is depending on a main feature(face), what if it is ripped off one’s own self? As a Malaysian (alien) artist staying in Korea for a year, having been given a ‘strange’(and sometimes even annoying) look from others, I really felt like testing the boundary: “what would they feel if ‘an alien’ wanted to touch them… particularly their face?” And I want to take this opportunity to try to ripped off their main feature, so I guess aluminium foil would be the best material to be instantly applied to their face (and cast off), their main feature, leaving only (a death mask) a glimpse of their past/identity, and with the characteristic of the foil, it will be hard to tell whether someone is Korean, American, African, Asian, Middle Eastern, etc., giving the notion of sameness or oneness. And the fragility of the foil itself is very important to symbolized our own fragility.
